229. (7.X) The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe

Christmas returns to Doctor Who with the Doctor bringing holiday cheer to a window and her two children after the recent loss of their father. Moffat does seem to love World War II England and always excel at evoking the feeling of he time. The conceit of the story is that a present the Doctor is giving them is a dimensional gateway wrapped in paper and a bow. It's a bit bonkers but fine festive fodder. Madge Arwell is a wonder of war time strength, compassion and heartache. The moral of the story is that Madge saves the day, save her husband, and her children and everyone lives. It's all very touching and happy for the holidays. The episode ends with the Doctor joining Amy and Rory for Christmas dinner. Merry Christmas!
