One year later....
Martha returns to England after traveling the world, spreading the word of the Doctor. The Master has aged the Doctor even more to the size of an imp. Jack's chained up and been dying frequently. And the Earth has been decimated.
In the meanwhile, the Doctor's been plugging into the Archangel Network to funnel humanity's emotions into him to restore himself to his former glory and defeat the Master. We find out the Troclifane are humanity's future form and the TARDIS is being used to maintain the paradox. The Doctor breaks the paradox and time snaps back a year and the world forgets what happened except for Martha's family and Lucy Saxon. And just when the Master seems defeated, he gets shot by his wife and dies in the Doctor's arms.
This three episode arc is a brilliant Master story and showcases both Derek Jacobi and John Simm as amazing Masters. John's version is the perfect arch nemesis for Tennant's Doctor. But Freema Ageyman owns the last two episodes, injecting so much emotion and suffering into her performance. Her departure is sad but understandable and one of the strongest exits ever.
And then the Titanic crashes into the TARDIS console room.
