221A. (6.5) The Rebel Flesh

So there are these things called dopplegangers or Gangers that are disposable duplicates of people to be used in dangerous circumstances. But what happens when the Gangers are emancipated from their  originals? And thus is the premise for what is to date the last 2 part story. The Gangers get all uppity and a Ganger of the Doctor is produced....

220. (6.4) The Doctor's Wife

Neil Gaiman finally gets his wish to write a Doctor Who episode and what an episode it is! This is one of the high point of the season with a story that honors the nearly 50 years of Doctor Who history. The simple plot device of putting the TARDIS' essence into a human female body is so amazing that it's never been done before. The dialog is so witty and clever, the chemistry between the Doctor and Idris DBA the TARDIS is magical. Her eventual "demise" at the end is heart breaking yet poignant. It was also extremely cool to see the Doctor build a new TARDIS console and to see the old 10th Doctor's console room. This ranks as an all time classic. Bravo Neil!

219. (6.3) The Curse of the Black Spot

Season 6 was very uneven, with some high points and some low points. This story was more of a low point, in my opinion. Pirate stories tend not to be my favorite, only slightly higher than Westerns. It has a fun sci-fi twist and it seems Rory is dying/ dead again. The Doctor gets a pirate hat. And the dude from Downton Abby stars. Argghh a vast ye matey!

218B. (6.2) Day of the Moon

After the multitude of plot points Moffat dropped last episode, he tries to bring together this story into some sort of coherent form and resolution. The Doctor is imprisoned, Amy and Rory are perused to death, and River jumps off a building in NYC. Of course Canton sets the Doctor free, Amy & Rory are only playing dead, and they catch River in mid-air. The capture video of the Silence and splice it into the 1969 moon landing. Amy says she's pregnant. River continues to be cryptic. And we're left with the mysterious little girl in New York regenerating.... It's an ambitious and broad reaching story to kick off the season kicks the River Song thread up an octave.

218A. (6.1) The Impossible Astronaut

Season 6 kicks off with a 2 part adventure, for the first time ever. River's back. The Doctor gets killed in the first 10 by an astronaut on the the beach. Then a younger Doctor shows up, to help unravel the mystery. We go back to 1969, the Richard Nixon White House, creepy aliens called the Silence, and a little girl that's somehow connected to the astronaut suit. Amy starts popping off guns and...

217. (6.X) A Christmas Carol

Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol comes to Doctor Who with "ghosts" of Christmas past, present and future. Of course they're on an alien planet, in the future, that looks like turn of the century England. Amy and Rory are honeymooning on a starship that is going to crash into a planet if Scrooge doesn't turn off the force field. The Doctor proceeds to re-write Scrooge's past to make him a kinder soul in the present. Typical Moffat wibbley wobbley. It's actually pretty cute. The young Scrooge and late teen/20 something Scrooge are cute and amusing. Of course everyone lives on Christmas and we get a happy holiday treat. And there's a flying shark.

215. (5.11) The Lodger

And now for the funny one. This is another oddball episode but where as Amy's Choice was weird, this one is actually funny. James Corden is quite hilarious and is the perfect counterpoint to Matt Smith's comedic side. The Doctor in domestics for an episode is somewhat novel but a welcomed breath of fresh air after a lot of emotional baggage lately. Matt Smith actually owns this episode, playing the fish out of water trying to fit in, with such ease and carefree. Even for one episode, Smith and Corden make a great team.
