The Doctor becomes human for two episodes and Martha is left to take care of business. To escape the Family of Blood, the Doctor uses Time Lord technology to re-write his biology to be human and lands up in 1913 as a school teacher. Unfortunately the human Doctor falls in love with Nurse Redfern while Martha realizes the Family has found them on Earth. After young Latimer takes the fob watch that contains the Doctor's Time Lord essence, Martha tries to re-awaken the Doctor my any other means available to her. The Family of Blood captures the Doctor and gives him the ultimatum, Joan Redfern and Martha.
